If you’re hoping to buy a new Mazda, our team of passionate auto professionals at Freeman Mazda can help you make that hope a reality. We offer a wide selection of new and used vehicles to choose from and understand the ins and outs of the car buying process. We also understand that one of the most important aspects of buying a new car is finding the engine type that’s right for you.

If your tires are the foundation of your vehicle, your engine is the heart. Your engine can determine any number of things from the level of power and acceleration to your vehicle’s overall fuel economy. That said, finding the engine type that fits all of your automotive needs can be somewhat intimidating. Fortunately, our team is here to help.

There are primarily three different engine types to select from four-cylinder engines, V6 engines, and V8 engines. Each engine type is determined by the number of cylinders that power it, so, for instance, a four-cylinder engine is going to have four individual cylinders, and so on. Each cylinder offers horsepower and torque, and at the same time requires fuel to operate. So while a V6 or V8 engine is going to provide greater power typically, it isn’t going to be as fuel efficient as a four-cylinder engine.

So, which engine type is superior? There is no true answer to that question, as it all depends on what you expect for your car to do. If you’re a commuter and like saving cash at the pump a four-cylinder engine might be the better choice. On the other hand, though, V6 and V8 engines are great options for drivers who love off-roading and being able to tow cargo effectively.

If you’re still unsure of what engine type works best for you, our team at Freeman Mazda can help. We are a Mazda dealership that prides itself on our customer’s satisfaction and will go above and beyond to find the right vehicle for you.
